A McCann of Worms...

We all knew it was a huge can of worms.  But the news over the last few days is showing what a mixed up state of affairs the missing Madeleine McCann case is proving to be.  At the start of the week, I was really hopeful that the case would be reopened in Portugal, now I find myself disheartened and fearful that the real truth may never be known.

It all started with BBC Panorama and its claim that the News International, The Sun newspaper and the McCanns pressured the Prime Minister to instigate the review...

Downing Street sources have revealed to the programme that influence was being exerted on Number 10 by News International and by The Sun newspaper, as well as by the McCanns.  Within 24 hours of the front page appeal Mr Cameron announced a review could be paid for out of a contingency fund run by the Home Office, reserved for special cases.

Bizarre...

Also from BBC's Panorama, we have DCI Andy Redwood claiming that...

We are working on the basis of two possibilities here. One is that Madeleine is still alive; and the second that she is sadly dead.  Our drive on both scenarios is of equal measure.

The British media sensationally interpretted this as...

Police reveal Madeleine may still be alive
The Mirror

Madeleine McCann : She is alive
Express

195 Leads and she is still alive
Scotsman

In a complete turnaround, the Portuguese authorities denied all knowledge of new leads and quickly rebutted Scotland Yard's claims with...

There are no new elements at the moment that would allow for the reopening of the inquiry.  We have received no formal request for the reopening of the inquiry.

On the day that the McCanns and Isabel Duarte finally returned 7500 copies of Goncalo Amaral's book 'Truth of the Lie' to their rightful owner, publisher Guerra & Pas as ordered...

Goncalo Amaral appeared on Portuguese television and claimed that...

The British police wanted to impose the theory of abduction and the innocence of the parents.

Even more bizarre is DCI Redwood's apparent sole reason for the belief of abduction hinges on the parents and friends timeline...

Evidence that she is alive stems from the forensic view of the timeline, that there was the opportunity for her to be taken. Investigations show there do appear to be gaps.

Forensic view of the timeline?  This timeline?...

I'm all for a chink of hope, but it beggars belief that Scotland Yard and the media have appeared to dismiss the findings of the British cadaver dog brought onto the case at the recommendation of our very own British police.  A skilled dog who marked the scent of death in apartment 5a and the McCanns' hire car.  And on Mrs McCann's clothing, a child's t-shirt and Madeleine's favourite toy, Cuddlecat.  How can the scent of death simply be glossed over  and ignored when it was found on McCann related items only and nowhere else in Praia de Luz?  So what if the forensics were degraded and contaminated, it's the scent of death for goodness sake.

A battle of words, court cases and desire for power and money seems to have dominated this case.  Most importantly, at the core of all of this is Madeleine, who seems almost forgotten in the crossfire.  She doesn't deserve the fate she has been dealt or all this PR crap being bandied in the media.  The truth has to be know.

  2. Bad enough that these poor people have to endure the loss and the pain of their negligence having contributed to it, but to cap it off with having to put up with the sick ramblings of vermin such as yourself is more than anyone should bear. Shame on you.

  3. The perpretrator/s have not yet been caught... My only interest is Madeleine, as should everyones, including the police. Show a little respect for the child please, instead of the blind defence of two neglectful strangers.

  4. Anonymous 03.32AM - These 'poor people' as you put it allowed the investigation into the disappearance of their daughter to be closed in the first place. They can also request to have the Portuguese case reopened in an instant but they don't want that for some reason. Instead this futile review is costing the British taxpayer and an ongoing tally so far has reach two million pounds!! and the police are only 25% of the way through it. Maybe instead of coming on blogs that you don't agree with you should put your efforts into encouraging the poor parents to get the REAL investigation reopened for free in Portugal??? We would all love that and back the POOR PARENTS to the hilt.

    1. The review is costing £2million, so what? A drop in the ocean compared to other things tax payers money is being wasted on, I am sure you will have to agree. But in this case it is a worthwhile cause and I for one and my spouse for another, we do not think it is wasting our money. No in fact we applaude this move.

And as for the Mccanns, they do want the case re-opened but under the guidance of very different police in Portugal, and who in their right mind can blame them for that. The lead detective back in 2007 was a convicted perjurer, please do not forget that and also wrote a book off the back of Madeleine's disappearance (making £300,000!!!) and he was quite wrong to do so and to sway (or try to sway) people's minds into thinking this poor lass is dead.

Can I ever come to terms with people who write the way this blogger does? No is the firm answer. And to all those simpering Amaral worshippers, I thinks it is time you woke up, don't you?

I am sorry but you are quite wrong! The McCanns are hoping it will be re-opened. Why else would they have pushed for some action to be taken?

  6. I think if we understand just one thing that we have gleaned from hackgate it is this. The Government , media(Murdoch) and Scotland Yard are one, for years their corruption has gone un-noticed and everyone was happy. If you understand that the can of worms becomes one long big fat greedy powerful worm.

Murdoch made the rules and everyone lived by them and from the recent media coverage from where I am sitting he is still pulling the strings. Now, Murdoch has been betrayed by Cameron , how will he take his revenge? not sure but I am in no doubt Cameron has a few surprises coming his way via Murdoch Empire and he is afraid. May 3rd elections, May 10th a health strike.Cameron has privatized the NHS without a lot of people knowing about it...it is now gobbled up by SERCO and Richard Branson. My concern with SERCO is the microchip but that's another story...

Cameron as a politician is finished.Murdoch is already back in bed with Labour, a couple of them are writing for his Sun on Sunday.

Therefore, and I cannot be 100% sure about this but again with hackgate it appeared it was Murdoch pulling the strings and the PM's who he placed in power did his bidding..It was Murdoch who was running the country, so my question is this, are News International behind the McCann cover - up? and are the Government and MET just follow Murdoch's latest orders ?

Here's a reminder of the News International connections.

Sir Clement Freud, grandson of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, had a holiday home in Praia da Luz, in Portugal.

In July 2007, Clement Freud helped the parents of missing child Madeleine McCann by cooking them dinners in Praia da Luz and offering them drinks.

Initially when he wrote to them offering assistance they thought it was a hoax. (Clement Freud – Wikipedia)

Sir Clement Freud’s son Matthew Freud is married to Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of Rupert Murdoch.

Matthew Freud is head of Freud Communications, an international public relations firm in the United Kingdom.

Matthew Freud is a member of the ‘Chipping Norton set’ along with David Cameron, Christopher Shale (recently found dead) and Rebekah Brooks.

David Wilson, the chairman of the public relations agency Bell Pottinger, handles Rebekah Brook’s press inquiries.
David Wilson was on the PR team aiding Madeleine McCann’s parents.

On Saturday 2 July, “Rebekah Brooks was a guest at an all-night party hosted by PR boss Matthew Freud and his wife, Murdoch’s daughter Elisabeth, at their Cotswolds mansion, Burford Priory.”

In attendance were the BBC director general, Mark Thompson, BBC reporter Robert Peston, Peter Mandelson, former Foreign Secretary David Miliband, and the education secretary, Michael Gove. (Rebekah Brooks’s arrest came as a surprise despite fortnight of bad press)

the only vermin in this sorry saga are the mccanns themselves,THEY are the one who wouldnt do a reconstruction
to help find THIER daughter or have you like most mccann supporters FORGOTTEN about MADELEINE BETH MCCANN,who is the only one who has suffered

    1. Sorry but you are very wrong. The McCanns did want the reconstruction done immediately but Amaral or the PJ said that it would not do one and why? Because of the tourists!!

So please, please get your facts right before spreading more lies!

      Delete
    2. yes the mccanns did say they would attend a reconstruction, but on the 26-5-2008(not quite straight away)
the tapas pals said they wouldnt attend(that was very lucky for the mccanns

so now that the mccanns want the case re-opened(bluff) lets see if they can get thier tapas pals to go this time

      Delete
    3. They wanted one immediately! 2008 was a year later and I think that was when the PJ (Amaral) asked them to attend for one. Ridiculous, the whole policing in Portamao! Please do not keep pulling the McCanns down for this. Walk a mile in their shoes and see how it feels.

      Delete
    4. As another poster has commented, the McCanns wanted an entirely different reconstruction. Whilst the PJ wanted an official documented reconstruction using the actual persons present, the McCanns wished a Crimewatch-style televised event with actors. A no-go where the police were concerned which is entirely understandable in these circumstances. If Kate McCann was so keen to participate, I have to question why she refused to go back for their own documentary and left Jane Tanner to take the reins.

    5. But not in the first instance they did not!

  8. With so many friend in HIGH PLACES, doing wrong about ANYTHING is a-ok. as long as some smart researcher or ungagged reporter doesn't find out and TRY to expose it.
Saddly there is not much that the average bloke can do about it. Except maybe "Let it Be", and get on with his life and forget it.

    1. Conspiracy theories abound!Amazing!

At the end of the day a little girl has probably been abducted from her bed! It has happened in UK from within the house where the parents were sleeping right next door. So why are you all so disbelieving? Far better idea to believe and keep searching, don't you agree?

    2. can i ask where have you searched?????

    3. We are all vigilant and I meant the police!!

  9. The most confusing thing about all this hype regarding a reopening of the case is, why have the McCanns not made a formal request to have the case reopened themselves? Under Portuguese law they have always had the legal right to do so, but for some reason the UK media are not reporting this fact to the public. It's such a shame, because there really is no necessity for this costly review which now seems to have turned into a bit of a bunfight between the UK & Portugal anyway.

    1. Would it have gained the McCanns in any way? The answer is that it would not while the same PJ were in charge of the investigation. Now a new bunch of PJ in Oporto are involved (and involved they are Sr Amaral) then I feel sure the McCanns have more faith in Portugal's law enforcement agency working as it should have done from the beginning.

    2. simple,THE MCCANNS WOULD DIE OF FRIGHT IF THE CASE WAS RE-OPENED AND THEY HAD TO DO A RECONSTRUCTION. ITS TAKEN THEM 5YRS AND ALL OFF A SUDDEN THEY WANT IT RE-OPENED,do me a favour this is all Bluff on thier parts.

McCanns: "reconstruction is not worth doing.

      well,well,well

    4. The McCanns wanted a reconstruction at the beginning when it mattered. It would gain them nothing now. Can you people not see that?

Can you remember what you were doing on 3 May 2007 at 10pm? I don't think so.

These questions and recon should have been done while the holidaymakers were still in PdL, like the Mccanns wanted....bugger the effect on tourists.

I tell you what, now the Portuguese have to endure the fact many choose not to holiday in their resorts.

    5. At the beginning the police wanted an official reconstruction of the events of that night. The McCanns wanted a Crimewatch style reconstruction using actors. Totally different things. I can remember exactly what I was doing on 3rd May 2007 at 10pm - I have children and they were safely tucked up in bed by that time . Within earshot and in the same premises as myself. It's a no brainer if you love and care for your children properly.Basic parenting, something this pair couldnt even manage to the cost of their poor child.

Here is a link to show you that big fat worm. Murdoch has corrupted everyone and everything that was good in England. AND it would appear he is still running the show as far as the media and Scotland Yard are concerned.

The McCanns have not done a thing to hurt their child.

Would they have pressed for this review if they had?

he hate towards them comes from the spin that is still, today, at this very moment in time, being spread about them and their friends and their involvement in Madeleine's disappearance.

Totally unnecessary and coming from people who have sod all better to do with their small lives.

      Make me sick!

May I leave this link with you to chew over. Max Mosley interview this morning on Murdoch blackmailing MP's and possibly those at the top of Scotland Yard.

It makes much more sense as many have always asked if this was a Government cover-up why all the noise but if it is News International behind it then yes much noise is needed to sell newspapers and they are all selling a lot of newspapers, Madeleine sells copy.

Max Mosley in this article states thats all that matters to Murdoch, sales and quite true during the Leveson Inquiry this week he mentioned sales a LOT.

On twitter a few days ago his Sun on Sunday had slumped , he tweeted something like ' Don't buy my papers there are a lot of crappy blogs out there'

Anyway to cut a long story short Tom Watson is going to write to all MP's on Monday to see if they have been threatened by Murdoch's company.

It certainly makes a lot of sense if Max Mosley can back up his allegations.
