RIP Brenda Leyland aka Sweepyface...

I've been reading about the sad loss of Brenda Leyland over the last couple of days.

I want to reinforce the fact that so many of you have succinctly pointed out.  This woman (who is being vilified in the media as a 'troll') was just one of many who do not believe the McCann version of events.  Her tweets were not threatening and couldn't have been directed at the McCanns - they don't have a Twitter account.  She simply did not believe their story, yet she was targetted and singled out in the most humiliating and disgusting manner by Martin Brunt and Sky News.

In contrast, the tweets levelled back at Brenda by supporters of the McCanns would take your breath away. I've never come across such vile, disgusting abuse in all of my time on the internet.  Any supporters of the family who condone this should hold their heads in shame.  And so should the McCanns.

The reason I write anonymously is not because of my opinion or that I'm in some way ashamed.  I do so to protect my family and out of fear that my children will have their names and photos published online by the same type of people who created the website and dossier.  This has happened over and over to normal people who dare to question what really happened in Praia de Luz.  It's pathetic and a gross invasion of privacy and anyone publishing such information should be prosecuted. Like Gerry McCann says "Clearly something needs to be done about the abuse on the internet.  I think we probably need more people charged".  On this occasion Mr McCann you are not talking shite, you're bang on!

Brenda may be laid to rest, but the circumstances surrounding her death cannot.  It must be fully investigated.
Who compiled this dossier?
Were they paid to do it?
Will they in turn be prosecuted for stalking online?
Were the McCanns involved?
Did it come under the Media Monitoring tab in the fund accounts?
Who fed the information to Sky?

And what gave Sky the right to doorstep an innocent woman guilty of nothing other than not believing?  The police later confirmed to the BBC that they were not even investigating Brenda Leyland.
I'm sad that Brenda didn't get the answers to her questions, but I sincerely hope that one day the truth will out - with so many of us wanting justice for Madeleine, I'm sure it will.  No amount of abuse will stop me seeking the truth and nothing will make me start believing the McCanns and their Sticker Book Story.  That group of scummy professionals and deadbeat parents should be held fully accountable for what happened on that holiday.  And for once (shock horror) I agree with Katie Hopkins.

Eighty pages of torture and death threats?... Hmm my advice to the McCanns - put it in your NUTTY BOX along with it's authors and move on.

Rest in peace, Brenda.

  1. I could not agree more. Spot on with what we are all thinking. Even down to the bit about Katie Hopkins! :-)

  2. The media need to stop implying that Brenda Leyland aka #sweepyface was a troll. Brenda was a mum, an IRL friend to others and most importantly a human being. A human being who had the right to express her opinions and not believe the McCann story just because they, and those associated to them, said she should. Justice for Brenda Leyland. I've followed the case of missing Madeleine McCann for seven years because I don't believe the child was abducted. I'll follow Brenda's case until the day justice is served to those who IMO hounded her to her death. RIP, Brenda. Strength to all those who knew and loved Brenda.

    1. You're entitled to your opinion like everyone else. I don't agree with you though. I've seen far worse trolling online and I suspect Sky took the easy option in choosing Brenda Leyland to confront, thinking she'd roll over and give them a story. Well that's certainly happened for all the wrong reasons and in all the wrong ways.

    2. You haven`t a degree in psychology. Under treatment with one, perhaps, but no professional mental health professional would use such prose.

    3. The commentator did not say that he/ she had a degree. You need to read the comment again. You're like the McCann trolls who leap conclusions with no facts to back them up

  4. And did the same people tell Sky? Wonder if they contacted Sky first like they did last time (allegedly). How many lives now ruined because they couldn't wait to leave their kids in an unlocked apartment, so they could "socialise" with friends?

  6. So let me get this straight...

    - Gerry McCann makes a statement that "something needs to be done about internet abuse".

    - The McCann family hand a dossier of names to the police (a fact confirmed by Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe on BBC radio)

    - The contents of the dossier are given to Sky News by persons (as yet) unknown

    - Brenda is approached by Sky News and accused of trolling the McCanns

    - As a result of being identified publicly, Brenda Leyland receives a number of tweets that most reasonable people would regard as death threats.

    - Brenda Leyland is later found dead in a hotel room

    - The police say that there are "no suspicious circumstances" surrounding her death.

Excuse me? Am I missing something here?

  7. Katie Hopkins, thank goodness someone has the guts to "speak out"at the outrageous behaviour that has ended in a woman being hounded to death,by SKY,s Martin Brunt,IMO threatening her with a so called police dossier, but it seems was actually compiled by the MaCaan family and friends??? Well Gerry you got your wish re stopping her" threats "towards your family didn,t you,a woman who was as frustrated as myself at this mega mega "cover-up"is now dead.Lets hope Katie will now let msm know who the real trolls are ,usually pro MaCaans as the threats Brenda was sent, after her doorstep outing, are nothing but EVIL,and will the police hunt them down??/I sincerely hope so,but not holding my breath.RIP dear lady.

  8. I tried to play this via the facebook page Justice For Madeleine Amaral Goncala. It seems to just be playing a recording now on the lib/dems and mental health. Hmm. However, it is on that fb page that Bernard Hogan-Howe slipped up about Brenda/murder.

  9. It's still available on the link posted above, just skip to around 25 minutes. Howe states that the dossier was handed in by the family and makes a big slip up by referring to the SY review team as as investigating the murder of the girl.

  10. Why is Gerry McCann right on?? if it wasn`t because of him, this would be happened in the first place right? Now they also have this poor woman`s blood on their hands.

  11. I agree with you. Gerry McCann is bang on in his comments about abuse on the internet and bringing about charges. However, he should be looking a little closer to home and his own supporters who are amongst the vilest, most disgusting creatures online.

  12. They just don't get it do they? The McCanns may well want us all who disbelieve their story to ' just go away ' but I have news for them. We won't. ! I just wonder how long it will be before anyone who doesn't adhere to the official line on this saga is called a terrorist and hauled before some secret court? With the Leveson enquiry and now this twitter investigation the McCanns are fast becoming an East Midland censorship machine. Who stands to gain I wonder.

  13. This whole thing stinks - right from the beginning this has been a massive cover-up but Why? Why are so many inmportant people protecting the Mccanns - peadophile ring maybe? Gerry and David Payne are certainly suspects for that - read the Gasper statements!!

    1. The Gaspar statements mean nothing, given that Mr. Gaspar does not agree with Mrs. Gaspar.

  14. RIP Brenda, thank you Potting Shed Person. Another person dead out this unsolved crime making it all the more sinister. Let us boycott Sky please everyone, and not just because of this, more than disgraceful episode, but for their part in falsifying the world news into pap for the sheeple. From Sky Sport to numb your brain to what's important in life, to Ebola shock horror go and beg for your untested vaccine, Rupert the hideous old octopus spreads his tentacles and locks them around us, when you look one way, a tentacle slides in from another way. Vile. Please don't send him any more of your money by buying Sky anything.

  15. Why did Brunt choose to assail this small, quietly spoken woman? Could he not have "door-stepped" some big, aggressive tattooed bruiser?

Of course not. The bruiser might have decked him.
